The Water Girl, Part 2The next day, Lucia went walking again. But what she didnt know was that she wasnt alone. Not far behind her was her mean neighbor, Will. He ran up behind her as quietly as he could, then gave her a shove.
Hey, loser baby! Gonna try fitting in again today? He pushed her again.
Stop it! She cried.
Stop it! He mocked. They were close to the river. Lucia began to grow scared.
Hey, you gonna swim, baby? Oh, wait, no, youre too scared!
You wouldnt dare! She growled. What happened next seemed to go in slow motion for Lucia.
Will raised up his hands.
Will pushed his hands towards Lucias back.
Will pushed Lucia.
Lucia fell into the river.
Lucia was to terrified to fully comprehend what had just happened. As she started to, something strange happened.
She felt a strange sensation come over her body. She didnt need to breathe. Her ears itched, and twitched, and started to Change shape
The Water GirlLucia stopped at the river. No one knew where it lead, or what was at the bottom. Most people said rocks and sand, and they were probably right, Lucia thought. She listened to its rush and babble. She watched it flow, with water spraying over rocks that pierced through the surface. She wondered where it went, and almost dipped her toe in. As she held her foot over the water, she felt a jolt, and a tingling sensation. Quite startled, she pulled her foot back.
She wandered alongside it, watching and listening. She had been out for a while. Lucia glanced up at the sky and realized it was almost twilight. Her parents would be worried, and would ask if she had gone in the water.
Lucia felt depressed suddenly. She didnt like being questioned, and she especially didnt like to upset her parents. She headed home, and it started to rain.
Oh, no! Lucia muttered. She pulled her jacket over her head and ran. Because she was often warned her about water, she was af
Story SnippetLucia wandered the woods. She lived on the planet of Stratton, a very wood-sy place. For some reason, Lucia had always felt out of place there. It was as if she belonged on another planet, and probably did. She always felt at home when she was with water, but her mother and father didnt let her go in it. It was too dangerous, they said.
Lucia had always been an outcast. She couldnt climb trees well. She was a human and didnt have any powers. Or, so she was labeled. She secretly had a power no one seemed to know about. When Lucia was sad, it would rain. If she was angry, rivers would rise or a terrible storm would come. They always thought it a coincidence, so Lucia did, too.
Writer's Block Hallie moved her pen up and down the page, too lightly for ink to come out. She was experiencing writer's block, one of the joys that comes with being a writer.
She banged her head semi-lightly against the notebook she was supposed to be writing in. Why was writing a simple three-page essay being so hard?
Hallie glanced at the clock. It was getting late, and she still had nothing. Sighing, she put her pen down and crawled into bed. She flopped her upper body against the pillow several times, then threw off the covers. It was too hot. She wanted to dump a bucket of ice water over her head, or at least climb into the fridge.
What is Heaven?What is Heaven?
Is it golden gates
And fluffy clouds
Angels with gossamer wings?
Or is that just a stereotype?
What is Heaven really?
Is it the sprinkles of stars at night?
The rush of the ocean
The loving lick of a dog
A happy childs laughter?
Is it droplets of rain
Splashing against the window?
Or the flowers in a field
And the fluttering of a butterfly's wings?
Is Heaven a place?
Or is it a state of mind?
Is it a place you go after death?
Or is it the sparkle of life?
Heaven is what you make of it
Or the love on earth
Just imagine all the things it could be
A String of Pearls, Part 2Cosma danced about with the broom, humming along with the radio. She couldnt believe what had happened that day. Shed met a boy, and totally by accident! He was handsome, and American, too. In her opinion, the British boys were a bit stuck-up. Cosmo, on the other hand, seemed nice. She couldnt wait to hear from him again.
Cosmo called two days later. Cosma was delighted. Since the depression started, she didnt get very many phone calls, and wasnt allowed to use it much.
Hey, he said. Our names are too similar, I think. What if we get mixed up?
How about I just call you Um, Lo, then?
Lou it is! They talked for a few more minutes, then Cosma had to hang up because they couldnt afford for her to stay on much longer. Cosma sighed happily. She loved everything about Cosmo-Lo. She loved his deep voice that reminded her of dark chocolate, his green hair and eyes. Maybe even him. Wait, what? In love? No w
